III - The Rams OL is far more talented than you may realize. The 2022 LA Rams roster was still smarting from a 21-game campaign that carried the team over six weeks into 2022. That proved to be far too little downtime for the 2022 NFL season, and many players either showed up banged up (i.e. quarterback Matthew Stafford) or didn't show up until well into the 2022 NFL season (i.e. WR Van Jefferson).

The Rams offensive line was not fully rested and ready for 2022, and the Rams roster was battered relentlessly by injuries throughout the season. That hot swap from the 2021-22 season to the 2022-23 season really rattled the Rams roster, but there are no indications that the Rams are under duress this year. Time and time again, the Rams are: "Playing it smart," with players who get dinged up.

Rams using a smart approach

That is a nearly opposite approach to what the LA Rams are doing this year. The Rams coaching staff is taking their time, working on football basics, and have plenty of wiggle-room to allow players who are hurt to sit this one out, penalty free. Even as the team may not be getting full workouts from some veterans, the ability to give more work and coaching attention to younger players has its merits.

The LA Rams do not know who will comprise their starting five offensive linemen, yet. But I love the fact that they are giving bona fide looks to start each player, a method that seemed to be absent in recent years. While it seems like something the Rams ought to have done all along, it's not exactly been the standard so far.

I like the approach. Perhaps giving everyone a shot to earn playing time can ensure better results this year?
