Summing up Rounds 1-4

We know that the Rams will be quite busy rounding out the roster with developmental prospects and special teamers in Rounds 5-7 (forgive me please, Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua, and Quentin Lake). So the heavy lifting in the 2024 NFL Draft by the front office will most likely be accomplished by the team in the first four rounds.

With that said, who do the Rams emerge from this draft with as a result of trading back?

  • Round 1 (28th overall) Chop Robinson, OLB - projected starter
  • Round 2 (52nd overall) T'Vondre Sweat, DT - projected starter/key rotational role
  • Round 2 (60th overall) Xavier Leggette, WR - projected key rotational role, future starter
  • Round 3 (99th overall) Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S -projected key rotational role
  • Round 4 (128th overall) Marshawn Lloyd, RB - projected rotational role, future starter
  • Round 4 (133rd overall) Jonah Elliss, OLB - projected key rotational role

The LA Rams roster is pretty packed with talented starters for now, so the likelihood of rookies selected in the draft cracking the roster to become starters out of the gate is far less likely than 2023. But that is not to say that they are less talented. It's simply that the talent on this roster is beginning to bury the needle to maximum once more.

Keep in mind that the team has seven picks to make in Rounds 5-7 after these players are added, and that the history of GM Les Snead in recent drafts comes with unparalleled success at finding starters for the team in those later rounds. These six players set up the team with a great beachhead for the last three rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, one that could be the best draft class in recent history for the Rams.

As always, thanks for reading.
