The Los Angeles Rams have been the hottest team in the NFL in the second half of the season, going 7-1 in their final eight games to clinch the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
Now, the Rams will head into the NFL Playoffs as one of the best dark horse options to win the Super Bowl.
Rams odds to win Super Bowl 58
The Rams are listed at +5000 at FanDuel Sportsbook to win Super Bowl 58, which are the fifth longest odds amongst all teams. Only the Texans, Buccaneers, Packers, and Steelers have longer odds than the Rams.
If you translate +5000 odds to implied probability, the Rams have a 1.96% chance of winning the Super Bowl, A $100 bet on the Rams to win it all would win your a profit of $5,000 if they're able to achieve the feat.
Can the Rams win the Super Bowl?
If you can put the first half of the season to the back of your mind and focus on the second half of the season, then the Rams absolutely can win the Super Bowl. Since they started their 7-1 run in Week 11, the Rams rank fourth in the NFL in EPA per Play, fifth in success rate, 17th in opponent EPA per play, and 10th in opponent success rate.
So, in the second half of the season the Rams have had an elite offense and an average to above-average defense. That's absolutely good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Let's also remember that the only loss the Rams took on this stretch was an overtime loss to the best team in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens. They're the only team the Ravens struggled against in the back half of the season.
Yes, the Rams can win the Super Bowl and I think are the best bet on the board at +5000. But, in order for them to go on a run, they have to get past the Detroit Lions first.
Rams vs. Lions odds
The Rams are 3.5-point underdogs against the Lions with the total set at 51.5. Based on their +155 moneyline odds, the Rams have a 39.22% chance of winning the game.
Who will the Rams play in the Divisional Round?
If the Rams are able to upset the Lions in the opening round, we have a pretty good idea of who they'll face in the second round. They will most likely be heading to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in an NFC West showdown and a rematch of Week 18.
The only result that will change their opponent will be if the Packers upset the Cowboys. If they do, the Packers will face the 49ers no matter the result of any other game. If both the Packers upset the Cowboys and the Rams upset the Lions, then Los Angeles will hit the road to take on the winner of the Buccaneers and Eagles.
The only chance the Rams have to host a playoff game this postseason is if they face the Packers in the NFC Championship.
