Ranking the Top 5 Rams running backs of all time
By Ryan Heckman
2. Steven Jackson
One of the most under-appreciated and underrated running backs in league history, Steven Jackson, also happens to be the Rams' all-time leading rusher. Over his nine years with the team, Jackson rushed for 10,138 yards. That included eight seasons in a row with over 1,000 rushing yards.
Jackson also proved he could be a fantastic receiver, catching 90 passes for 806 yards in 2006, in addition to rushing for a career-best 1,528 yards, giving him a whopping, league-leading 2,334 yards from scrimmage that season.
Jackson would make just three Pro Bowls despite being one of the most consistent running backs in the game for so long, although many of those Rams teams he played for were not very competitive. But, Jackson is one of the reasons that made many of those seasons worth watching, game-in and game-out.
Certainly eligible for the Hall of Fame, Jackson is waiting his turn. He is 18th on the NFL's all-time rushing leaderboard with the majority of those ahead of him already getting inducted. Hopefully, his turn is coming sooner rather than later.
