Original Rams 2024 NFL Draft picks

Like all NFL teams, the LA Rams began the 2024 NFL Draft with a original allotment of seven draft picks, one for each round. The order of when those picks fall in each round is determined in how the Rams finished in the 2023 NFL season. Because the Rams finished with a record of 10-7, the Rams original picks fall as the 19th pick in each subsequent round (or thereabouts).

But that hard and fast rule only applies to the Rams originally allotted picks. The Rams, like many teams, engage in a fair amount of wheeling and dealing. For the 2024 NFL Draft, the Rams have three separate trades that impact their picks (see previous slide). So the Rams picks work out as follows:

1. Round 1 – The Rams hold their first-round pick
2. Round 2– The Rams hold their second-round pick
3. Round 3 – The Rams hold their third-round pick
4. Round 4 – TRADE (-): The Rams traded away their fourth-round pick to Steelers
5. Round 5 - TRADE (+): The Rams have obtained the Pittsburgh Steelers fifth-round pick.
6. Round 5 – The Rams hold their fifth-round pick
7. Round 6 - TRADE (-): The Rams traded away their sixth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills
8. Round 6 – TRADE (+): The Rams have obtained the Denver Broncos-sixth round pick
9. Round 7 - TRADE (-): The Rams traded away their seventh-round pick to the Broncos
10. Total Draft Picks: 6

Projections for awarded compensatory picks in 2024 NFL Draft

With incentive compensation earned by Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield for starting and appearing in the 2024 NFL Playoffs, the projected awarded compensatory picks have been revised for the LA Rams. The algorithms have been further revised due to the Rooney Rule incentives to teams that lose a coach to another team's head coaching hire with two consecutive years of an awarded Round 3 compensatory draft pick.

• Round 6- Three picks (Matt Gay to Colts, Nick Scott to Bengals, Robinson to Giants)

LA Rams total projected picks in the 2024 NFL Draft:

1. Round 1 –1- The Rams hold (1) One first-round pick
2. Round 2– 1- The Rams hold (1) One second-round pick
3. Round 3 –1- The Rams hold (2) Two third-round picks
4. Round 4 – 0- The Rams hold (0) no fourth-round picks
5. Round 5 - 2 - The Rams hold (2) Three fifth-round picks
6. Round 6 - 3 - The Rams hold (4) sixth-round picks.
7. Round 7 - 2 - The Rams hold (1) seventh-round pick
8. Total - 11 picks

So when will the LA Rams pick? Per Tankathon.com as of February 16, 2024, and a manual adjustment, we can now factor in the LA Rams projected picks.

1. Round 1 – 19th Overall
2. Round 2 – 52nd Overall
3. Round 3 – 83rd, 98th Overall
4. Round 4 – None
5. Round 5 – 153rd, 154th Overall
6. Round 6 - 209th, 213th, 217th Overall
7. Round 7 - 254th Overall
8. TOTAL - 11 picks

That is a huge haul, and one that results in the LA Rams landing four draft picks in the Top 100. If you recall, the LA Rams did not have a selection in the 2022 NFL until the 104th overall pick. So it's safe to be optimistic over the LA Rams 2024 NFL Draft.

But what of the NFL Drafts beyond 2024?
