Sean McVay's comments suggest Rams might have found another Puka Nacua

There's going to be so much talk about who the next Puka Nacua is over the next few weeks. Every team is trying to find their next great, late-round rookie receiver, which is actually just a huge waste of time for them considering he's already on the Rams. How convenient!

After the Rams' first preseason game this weekend – game of the year?? – the Jordan Whittington hype machine is already operating at full capacity. Six catches (on nine targets!) for 74 yards in your first professional game will do that for you.

Especially as the team waits for Nacua to recover from a training camp leg injury, it's nice to know that they actually don't even need him anymore. (It's a joke for now, but I reserve the right to have this taken seriously if I'm right later.)

For what it's worth, Sean McVay's not exactly stopping the hype machine.

Grown man ball! A factor for them! It's hard to think of two better coachspeak compliments.

If Whittington truly ends up being those things for them this season, McVay should absolutely retire and just make money hand-over-fist consulting on team's late-round receiver selections. It's probably going to get annoying at some point, but we can cross that bridge when we get there.

This is what preseason is all about. Jordan Whittington was just a dude last week. Now he's a Dude. That's the power of football. It was only days ago that you were concerned that the Rams were mighty thin at wide receiver, and you woke up this morning confident that, when healthy, they might have one of the deepest rooms in the league. It's hasty to say that they're looking a lot like the Greatest Show on Turf, but the numbers don't lie.
