If he's breathing, he's playing. That's just who Matthew Stafford is.

Nobody needs to know just how important veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is to the LA Rams' chances of success this season. But his recent hamstring tightness, minor or not, was enough to force the fanbase to face the scenario of what the team's chances might be to open the 2024 NFL season without him.

And it's not a pretty picture. Not one bit.

Well, you can rest easy for now. The LA Rams released all brakes and limits to quarterback Matthew Staffod today. And just in time too, it seems, as the day was filled with joint practice and scrimmage work for the LA Rams with the Houston Texans, the team's fourth such joint practice, in advance of the third (fourth for the Texans) and final preseason game this Saturday:

And the team shared positive news about left guard Jonah Jackson and cornerback Darious Williams as well:

So far. Jonah Jackson has been participating in individual drills. While that in itself is a huge step in the right direction, this latest update confirms that he will be returning to the fold and easing back in to fully practicing with his teammates with plenty of time to prepare to face his former team, the Detroit Lions, on Sunday Night Football on September 8, 2024.

And the additional bit of positive news that was added today is the fact that veteran cornerback Darious Williams has progressed far enough in his recovery process for Coach McVay to share that DWill will be resuming team practice activities as well. After the team has parted ways with DB Jerry Jacobs with an IR/Injury Settlement, we had been anticipating positive news for the team's secondary. This appears to be that news.

The news is all very positive for several players, but the team still has been hush-hush on the status of the two starting offensive tackles. With roster cuts imminent, the team will be forced to either designate one of the projected starting tackles on IR, carry an increased number of offensive linemen on the team's initial 53-man roster, or both.
