The Heart of a Lion
You cannot replace passion for the game. The Rams learned and then confirmed that hypothesis in their selection process used during the 2023 NFL Draft. It was that process of selecting passionate players that yielded nose tackle Kobie Turner. The same respect for passion landed wide receiver Puka Nacua. And the same process landed the Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett.
When the Rams drafted former Georgia two-time national champion quarterback Stetson Bennett, the team added more than a player who held specific skillsets to compete in the NFL. The Rams were attracted to select Bennett because he had a competitive spirit that buried the needle in comparison to his peers.
Stetson Bennett rocked the house in his 2023 Training Camp debut. He was a young man who was still riding the wave of unbridled success from his NCAA football career. As long as the dominos fell the right way, everyone and everything was fine. But if you had followed his career, you knew that two things would happen: Eventually he would hit a speed bump. And eventually he would find some way to overcome that hurdle.
Now we are on the other side of the tunnel that he had to pass through. So what is in it for the Rams? After all, this team is allowing him to compete once more for a roster spot. Will Bennett meet the challenge once more? Some give him no better than a 50/50 shot of sticking with the team. Others have already claimed that he is one of the players who is on the hot seat and is most likely to be cut by the team when the Rams face paring down the roster to the 53-man limit for the 2024 NFL season.
Stetson Bennett has the heart of a lion. He never takes no for an answer, and has proven to be someone you don't bet against throughout his football career.
I see events playing out in another direction.
