As soon as the LA Rams lost in Week 9 to fall to a record of 3-6, the Rams improved their draft position to the sixth overall pick in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Curious as to what that may yield the Rams in terms of a 2024 Mock Draft, I turned to Tankathon.com to see which rookie prospects might land on the Rams roster in 2024.

I was happy that I did. Nothing is as optimistically charged as a simple mock draft, and for the LA Rams celebrating their first Round 1 pick since hiring head coach Sean McVay, the Rams have a lot to look forward to in terms of a new crop of promising rookie talent. While there are no guarantees with any NFL Draft, there is currently a lot of optimism surrounding the 2024 NFL Draft.

Rams reset involves more than the NFL Draft

When the team opted to rework the Rams roster, the very act of abandoning known and accomplished NFL veterans in lieu of less expensive and uncertain rookies in both 2023 and 2024 was a huge roll of the dice. The Rams needed to re-assemble a new iteration of an NFL Championship-capable team, but had to do so by reforming the team from the draft and inexpensive NFL free agency players.

Of course, based on the results of previous draft classes, the Rams needed to do more than simply close their eyes and hope for the best. The Rams needed to simultaneously upgrade their positional coaches at selected position groups as well.

That is exactly what the Rams did. While some fans are unconvinced that all Rams coaches who do not jump ship in the offseason for a promotion with a new team will be back, I do not necessarily agree. Keep in mind that the Rams roster that many coaches inherited in the offseason were already quite depleted, and the Rams 90 many roster was not even 50% filled with the arrival of the 2023 NFL draft.

And so, the Rams have started a multi-year journey to rebuild a winner. Sometimes, that type of trek requires one step backward to move two steps forward. And as far as two steps forward, let's peek at the latest 3-round LA Rams mock draft for 2024 from Tankathon.com.
