From the moment that the LA Rams heard the final whistle of the Wild Card Round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs, the scoreboard at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan held the fate of the tean. However the two teams go there, the Rams ended on the short end of the final score, signifying that in a win-or-go-home format, the team would be traveling home

And traveling home empty handed.

Although 0-1 in the postseason, it is almost impossible to be overly disappointed in this team. For my part, it's impossible to feel anything but glowing optimism for the team that converted 14 rookies from the 2023 NFL Draft into a playoff caliber team in less than one season.

But from the moment that the game against the Detroit Lions was over, the fans and players had to stare up at the scoreboard that read:

Final Score:
L.A. Rams - 23
Detroit Lions - 24

Everyone had to accept the fact that the 2023 NFL season was over. No more opening kickoffs. No more injury reports. No more games. The memories from 2023 had to be packed away to make room for a new iteration of the coaching staff, players, games, and memories.

The team's front office was already at work. A new roster simply does not happen organically. That meant that the first order of business was to sign key practice squad players to Reserve/Future contracts to ensure that the team retained key prospects who showed promise over the course of the season.

10 players signed Reserve/Future contracts with the team, and then four more players signed on. Finally, the team re-signed rookie kicker Tanner Brown to a Reserve/Future contract. With the preliminary activities accomplished, the front office can turn to bigger and better matters.

But the offseason strategy follows a course similar to that of dominoes. In short, the actions that occur early in the offseason trigger how subsequent decisions and actions must follow suit. So which players' fates in the 2024 offseason can have significant impacts on how the team approaches the 2024 NFL Free Agency market and the 2024 NFL Draft? Let's explore four players whose fate will dictate much of what the front office must do. All set? Here we go . . .
