Tre'Davious White showing up big in the Rams secondary

There had been a great deal of trepidation among Rams fans over Tre'Davious White before training camp arrived. He was held out of OTAs as a precaution, allowing his body and mind to heal fully. And even through training camp, he has been managed in terms of his overall workload. Had veteran DB Darious Williams not suffered a hamstring injury, we may not have a sense of just how good Tre White will be in this secondary.

But Williams did get injured. Tre' White did take on the veteran leadership role for the secondary. And the results so far have been . . . how shall I put it?. . . spectacular.

Some training camp reports have quite adeptly described Tre'Davious White as 'sticky."

In one of the daily training camp reports, Senior Staff Write Stu Jackson highlighted Tre'Davious White's performance in practice:

"The veteran defensive back was especially active during team drills, nearly coming away with an interception on two separate occasions. He also had a well-timed, physical pass breakup on a Jimmy Garoppolo pass intended for wide receiver Tutu Atwell."

In another training camp quip, DC Chris Shula has noted the growth of young defensive back Cobie Durant and attributed his ascension in 2024 to the fact that veteran DB Tre'Davious White has taken him under his wing and has been mentoring him this season.

What more can you ask for from a veteran defensive back in his first season on the team? Not only is he throwing down the gauntlet on the practice field, but he is elevating the performance of his teammates as well. That is as good as it can get in training camp. We will know more as the Rams pivot to joint practices, controlled scrimmages, and preseason games.
