Tough Road Opponent II: New York Jets

Forget what you know, or think you knew, about the 2023 version of the New York Jets. The team will welcome back veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the 2024 NFL season. What you may want to focus on is the fact that the Jets finished 2023 with a record of 7-10. Now, with Rodgers under center, you can safely conclude that Rodgers will elevate their season by three or more victories.

The Jets are not an easy opponent for the Rams to begin with. This is a team that was winless in the 2020 NFL season in 13 games before getting their first win against the LA Rams in Week 15. That team claimed a victory behind quarterback Sam Darnold, and was the loss that put the Rams vulnerability at the middle of their defense on full display for future opponents to take advantage.

The Jets managed to win over some tough teams in 2023, defeating eventual playoff teams like the Buffalo Bills, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Hoston Texans, and they managed to do that without the benefit of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center. In 2023, the team will have a bit more time to surround Rodgers with better protection and weapons. A stronger Jets offense could be exactly what the Jets defense needs next season.

And of course there is the time zone factor. And there is the potential for cold weather, as the New York Jets play at Met Life Field, a stadium that does not have a roof. If the Rams face the Jets in New York late in the season, they will be facing a determined opponent, a debilitating time zone difference, and all the nasty elements that Mother Nature has at her disposal.
