III: Indianapolis Colts

Pro Football Focus Ranking: 29

While I do not believe that the Indianapolis Colts have turned the corner and will be in the NFL Playoffs this year, I do believe that they have loaded up on a strong rookie class of 2023 which will help them become more competitive this year. And the truth is that the AFC South Division, consisting of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans, is completely up for grabs this year.

I may be in the minority, but I like what the Colts have done in terms of their quarterback depth chart. The team can give Anthony Richardson as much time as he needs this season simply by starting quarterback Gardner Minshew. Then, when Richardson has earned the right to start NFL games, he can take over and the the Colts can demote Minshew to the bench.

How many wins can the Indianapolis rack up in the 2023 NFL season? Well, according to the projections of Horseshoe Heroes site expert Jaleel Grandberry, the Colts will win eight games. Of course, one of those wins is expected to come at the expense of the LA Rams. I can't see that happening, so let's slot the Colts in at seven wins.

While seven wins are not getting the Colts a playoff berth, it's a far cry better than a 29th-ranked finish in the NFL. I think that the Colts have a solid strategy that may take time to fully develop. But it is a sound enough strategy to win some games this year. Just not against the Rams.
