III: Rams need to see how QB position shakes out before 2024 NFL Draft

The LA Rams quarterback room has some significant questions to be answered in the 2024 NFL offseason, and hopefully before the arrival of the 2024 NFL Draft. The reason being is that although the LA Rams have a Day 1 draft pick for the first time since 2016, the likelihood of the Rams finding a highly coveted quarterback prospect late on Day 1 is dwindling as the Rms improve this season.

And then there is the question of which positions will the Rams prioritize in the 2024 NFL Draft? Some positions that have gotten a lot of support in comments sections, forums, and Rams message boards include:

  • Offensive tackle
  • Defensive back
  • Wide receiver
  • Tight end
  • Outside linebacker
  • Defensive lineman
  • Backup quarterback
  • Placekicker
  • Offensive lineman
  • Inside linebacker
  • Running back

In summary, practically every position has been mentioned as a need-to-address in the upcoming draft. While that is no different than many NFL offseasons before the annual NFL Draft, it is an area that needs clarification for the Rams front office to allow the draft process to be most effective.

It's obvious that the LA Rams crushed their 2023 NFL Draft, selected 14 players and landing a host of rookies who not only start in the NFL, but are on pace to crush records for their respective positions. But the LA Rams did not attack the draft in a manner that many fans demanded. Rams fans were very vocal about the LA Rams drafting an entirely new offensive line in 2023, while some went so far as to expect the first three selections to be offensive linemen.

The truth is that the Rams coaching staff and front office understood that returning players could help to refill vacated roles on the Rams roster. And it's a similar process that a solid performance by Carson Wentz in Week 18 can trigger as the Rams assess future of their 2024 NFL Draft shopping spree.
