What will the LA Rams do with the 19th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft?

While it may seem to be the safest option, simply making the selection with the 19th overall pick may ultimately be the best option for the LA Rams for several reasons. Whether the prospects on the draft board in the middle of Round 1 are offensive linemen, defensive backs, defensive linemen, quarterbacks, pass rushers, or offensive skill players, the team could make immediate use of them in 2024.

The value of prospects in this year's draft class seem to align well to the roster needs of the team. That is to say that there should be no shortage of quality options on the board when the team steps up to make a selection on Day 1. Will all LA Rams love the pick? it's safe to conclude that with so many talented players as options, some fans will be frustrated that their prized prospect was not selected.

That does not mean to say that the front office is likely to disappoint. I believe that many of the players who will remain on the draft board for the 19th overall pick have better than even odds of performing far better than you would expect a rookie to play. And after the outstanding results of the 2023 NFL Draft that landed three quality starters for the team with the first three picks, I see no reason to lower expectations for this season.

The LA Rams had proven in 2023 that adding the right type of rookie adds to the competitiveness of the team, and does not preclude lengthening the runway to allow enough time to earn a chance to compete in the postseason. If the Rams can convert a young enthusiastic into an NFL Playoff team, imagine what the team has in store with a playoff team that welcomes another young enthusiastic rookie class?
