Which gifts do you like most about rookie WR Puka Nacua?
By Bret Stuter
I: He's elite
The temptation to describe a promising NFL rookie with superlatives is great. The allure of comparing promising NFL rookies to NFL All-Time legends is even greater. But what do you do when a rookie actually delivers on those lofty descriptions and comparisons? Well, that's certainly the case for LA Rams rookie WR Puka Nacua.
The LA Rams are one of the NFL's oldest and most storied franchises. And yet, Puka Nacua is officially the best rookie wide receiver to ever don the horns in the history of the team. That's pretty amazing considering when the LA Rams called out his name in the 2023 NFL Draft.
From the moment that he was named to the Rams roster, we loved the fit. Nacua displayed all of the traits necessary to succeed in the Rams offense throughout his career at BYU. And yet, the Rams have had promising rookies arrive to the team in the past.
The difference in Nacua's case is that he did not arrive with an expectation to be taught what he needed to learn. He sought the information. He chased down both QB Matthew Stafford and WR Cooper Kupp to learn from them directly about his role and what was expected of him. Finally, when he stepped onto the football field, he showed up.
Is he the best rookie WR to ever play in the NFL? Good Morning Football host, NFL Analyst and NFL Insider Peter Schrager certainly thinks so:
And all of this is being discussed about Puka Nacua in his rookie season with two games left on the schedule.
So which of Puka Nacua's many gifts are you most thankful? Is Nacua an elite NFL wide receiver in your mind yet? Or do you fear that he is simply a one-hit wonder who will fade away to obscurity in the future?
