The LA Rams have a lot to be excited about for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. But amidst all of the excitement of new faces, lofty goals, and hopes of hoisting another Lombardi Trophy, there are the sub-plots that keep the game even more intriguing. Ultimately, all LA Rams fans want to win games. But what about the accolades and honors of special players putting up elite performances?

And that is where we want to turn our attention in this article.

Rams players are not about individual accolades. But the underlying impact of everyone trying to be the best versions of themselves, some players are bout to excel in 2024. And of that group, their best season has an opportunity to compare very favorably to the historic high-water marks of Rams players who competed before them. We know that the Rams have two record setters on the roster in WRs Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. But are other record-setters for 2024 playing alongside them?

Let's take a quick survey of some records that may be threatened or broken this season.

V: Can Joshua Karty set Rams' All-Time Single Season Scoring record?

There has been a lot of high praise bestowed upon rookie kicker Joshua Karty long before he has kicked a single extra point or field goal for the team. But he has been touted by some NFL Draft analysts as the best rookie kicking prospect to arrive at the NFL in the past five to ten years. So we ought to at least peek into the Los Angeles Rams All-Time Single Season Scoring record.

The current record holder is former St. Louis Rams kicker Jeff Wilkens who scored 163 points for the Rams. In that year, Wilkens kicked 39 field goals and 46 extra points. The most recent player to flirt with the record was the 2021 kicking performance of Matt Gay, who put up 144 points by kicking 32 fields goals and 48 extra points.

In 2023, Rams kickers Brett Maher and Lucas Havrisik combined to kick 32 field goals (out of 43) and 32 extra points (out of 37) to put up 128 point for the team. So, the opportunity is there for Karty to at least flirt with the record. Assuming a similar offensive breakdown in 2024, Karty would need to boot 42 field goals and 38 extra points to break the record. That means that he would theoretically need to miss only one field goal and make every extra point attempt to have a real shot at record setting.

Of course, it all depends on how effectively this team scores. It appears to be a long shot, but it's something worth tracking early in the season. It works out to making an average of 2.5 field goals per games, as well as 2.25 extra points per game.
