With Stafford struggling, let's revisit the 2024 quarterback class

If the LA Rams truly want to land a franchise quarterback, it's tough to ignore the number and quality of prospective NFL quarterbacks who will likely appear on the board of the 2024 NFL Draft. And with the LA Rams possessing a rare draft pick on Day 1 of that 2024 NFL Draft, it's difficult to ignore the chances of the team focusing on getting a future franchise quarterback to groom for a season under the mentorship of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.

But if that is nearly a year away, why bother with it now? To be fair, college football is happening now.. And if LA Rams fans are interested in seeing who the highly rated college quarterbacks are, now is the time to tune in and see for yourselves.

Now, don't get me wrong. All college quarterbacks have some weakness(es). The success of their future NFL careers depends on many factors that include fit, maturity, coachability, mental toughness, talent, work-ethic, offensive philosophy, coaches, teammates, and a host of other influences that have and will continue to help shape the future of the careers of NFL rookies.

At one in time, each of the above listed quarterbacks were projected to hear thei names called out in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. It's unlikely that all quarterbacks on this list would forego any remaining NCAA football eligibility and throw their respective hats into the 2024 NFL Draft.

As of October 24, 2023, Tankathon.com projects USC QB Caleb Williams, North Carolina QB Drake Maye, and Texas QB Quinn Ewars as prospects who will be selected in Round 1. Of course, there are games to be played, and the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine that will likely impact their rankings.

The LA Rams have a growing shopping list for the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the positions that I expect the Rams to address in the quarterback position in Round 1. Matthew Stafford is getting older, and the LA Rams need to find his successor. Even if the Rams believe that QB Stetson Bennett can develop into that guy, competition is healthy.
