We have emerged from the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, and the Los Angeles Rams have a lot to process. After all, entering the event, the team was staring at the possible trades of QB Matthew Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, and IOL Jonah Jackson, as well as the expired contracts of many veteran players, led by starting left tackle Alaric Jackson.
It all seems, and felt, a bit ominous for the team that had advanced to the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs, and was oh-so-close to advancing to the NFC Championship Game.
Now, as the Combine ends, the Rams are in far better shape than expected. The team has forged a solid new contractual agreement with Matthew Stafford, as well as extended blind-side offensive tackle Alaric Jackson though 2027. Best of all, the Rams front office accomplished all of that with more than a week left before the 2025 NFL Free Agency. Not too shabby.
But NFL headlines had far more to cover throughout the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. For just a brief summary, here are some of the highlights:
Here are a few rumors I was told at the Combine:
— Austin Abbott (@AustinAbbottFF) March 3, 2025
Giants and Jets are BOTH actively trying to move up to 1st overall, Giants are more likely to do it
Matthew Golden will be the 1st Wide Receiver off the board
Shedeur Sanders is slipping, 6th overall to the Raiders is the…
Why is that important to add to a Rams Mock Draft article? Well, it's important to share because several players who are showing up as ideal fits for the Rams are now projected to come off the board before the Rams make their first selection with the 26th overall pick. The buzz over multiple Rams 'fits' right now are so positive that conventional wisdom suggests that the Rams will have to look elsewhere for playmakers.
Texas WR Matthew Golden certainly showed up large and in charge at the 2025 Scouting Combine. In fact, if you peer above, he is now expected to be the first wide receiver off the draft board. The Rams have also been linked to Michigan TE Colston Loveland, who is not projected to come off the board before the Rams make a selection.
Even Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, who was an option in Round 3 as a future starting quarterback, is on the move, and may be selected by another QB-needy team far sooner than the 90th over all selection. So what does that leave for the Rams at the 26th, 90th, and 100th overall picks in the 2025 NFL Draft? Well, per this three-round mock draft, quite a bit to be exact:
Round 1
Missouri OT Armand Membou may seem like a luxury pick for a team with plenty of holes to fill elsewhere, but we all know the painful fact that it all starts up front for the LA Rams. So investing in an offensive tackle is not only quite wise, but prudent. And in some projections, he lasts until early in Round 2. But with the Rams making a selection at 26th overall, Membou is a solid value here.
The Rams have slowly but steadily been investing into the offensive line in recent drafts, adding IOL Steve Avila and OT Warren McClendon Jr. in 2023, plus adding IOL Beaux Limmer and OT K.T. Leveston on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. While the team has primarily used Day 3 to add rookie prospects to the offensive line room, the team cannot pass on an opportunity to add a clear successor for aging right tackle Rob Havenstein.
Now, let's talk about Armand Membou. He is a powerful offensive lineman, as in Hulk strong:
The cherry on top: Armand Membou put up 31 reps (!) on the bench press this morning.

No. 1 among OTs, No. 4 among all Combine participants https://t.co/ysFTkIkIRo
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing a burly 332 pounds, Membou is a powerhouse offensive tackle who is incredibly athletic, nimbler, and balanced. He falls to the Rams simply because he is not the prototypical height that most NFL general managers prefer in their offensive tackles. But what he lacks in height, he more than makes up for in power, intelligence, and passion.
What I love most about Armand Membou here is the fact that he is considered anywhere from the top rated offensive lineman to the fourth best offensive lineman. His only drawback is his stature of 6-foot-4. I don't see that as a detriment for the Rams offensive line. The teams wants to get more physical, more ferocious, and more durable on the offensive line. And the more I see of Armand Membou, the more he strikes me as exactly what the Rams are looking for.
Round 3
Mississippi WR Tre Harris has appeared in Rams mock drafts before, and in many draft profiles, he is projected to come off the board sooner rather than later. But there are several factors that push him to the Rams at the 90th overall pick. There are those NFL teams that need a quarterback, and will take a flyer on the best quarterback on the board when they make their pick, just to have someone to work with in 2025. There are several positions that are very abundant in this rookie class, including tight end, running back, and defensive lineman. Finally, there is the annual investment that every team makes into their secondary, line of scrimmage, and pass rushers.
As a result, Mississippi wide receiver Tre Harris falls further than expected. And the LA Rams, parched from a lack of offensive weapons, lunges at the chance to add a true offensive play-maker to the roster in Round 3.
Tre Harris stands 6-foot-2, weighs 205 pounds, and has the look and 'feel' of an LA Rams wide receiver. His 40-yard dash time came in at 4.54 seconds, which is plenty of speed for an NFL wide receiver, but was not the blazing speed that will create buzz in post-combine converstations, like that of WR Matthew Golden.
Harris was a steady and productive receiver throughout his NCAA football career, but he truly skyrocketed after transferring from Louisiana Tech to Mississippi to compete in his final two seasons. He has a mixed set of draft projection. Optimistically, he is very productive and consistent. He has elevated his game to star against excellent college defenses. And his height, physicality, and measurable project nicely to a successful NFL career.
But closer inspection reveals that much of his offensive production came from misdirections, screens, and hitches. He has not mastered the route tree expected in the NFL. And his medical history is clouded with an injury history that introduces questions of durability. Even in Round 3, Tre Harris is a huge ceiling receiver who comes with risks. I expect the Rams will accept the risks at the chance for greatness.
Round 3
Bowling Green TE Harold Fannin Jr. may not be everyone's cup of tea as a rookie tight end prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, but I believe that the LA Rams may ben mesmerized by what he could bring to the offense. In my mock draft, and projected in the 2025 NFL Draft, both Penn State TE Tyler Warren and Michigan TE Colston Loveland come off the board long before the Rams are able to make their first selection.
Other tight ends could be an option, but Harold Fannin Jr. Is marvelous value at the 100th overall selection in this draft, and here's why:
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 241 pounds, Fannin is more like a big, physical wide receiver than a smallish tight end. He is an acquired taste, as he is not a conventional tight end. He enters the NFL without dependable blocking skills that are prerequisites at the position. He does not showcase a natural bend in running his routes, giving the appearance of a clunky flailing style that appears to waste energy unnecessarily. And he does not possess the inherent strength and physicality of a tight end.
So why would the Rams have any interest in Harold Fannin Jr.? Well, strength can be acquired by working out in the training room. Blocking can be coached up. But Harold Fannin Jr.'s passion for football, his incredible instincts, and his production are areas in which he excels and simply cannot be coached. And the LA Rams have never shied away from smaller football program prospects who have that 'it,' factor.
While his production on the football field has been very impressive, his athleticism did not show up in the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, a fact that will cause some NFL teams that were not sold on Fannin to cool on his fit in their teams. I suspect that the Rams, a team eager to land an elite talent at the tight end position, will not be discouraged as easily, despite rather modest measurables.

In his last season with Bowling Green, Fanning hauled in 117 receptions for 1,555 yards and 10 touchdowns. That stands head and shoulders above the production of other tight ends in the 2025 NFL Draft. But was it a measure of inferior competition? Was it due to his being a primary offensive weapon? Or is he simply that much better in pads on the football field?
He is loaded with wide receiver skills. He has an exceptional arsenal of routes, advanced knowledge of footwork and changing pace and tempo, and velcro-like hands that accounted for just two drops in 171 career targets. He is very physical with the football in his hands, a YAC master Jedi. He put up 873 Yds after the catch and 34 broken tackles in 2024. Best of all, he can line up anywhere in the offense. In 2024, he lined up: 43.6 percent inline, 28.6 percent in the slot, and 27.8 percent wide.
He even showcased a mastery of explosive plays, putting up 26 plays with gaines of over 20+ yards. He even was used on running plays. For a Rams team eager to transplant explosive playmakers to the offense, Harold Fannin Jr. is an ideal addition.
The LA Rams make three picks in the first 100 selections of the 2025 NFL Draft. While the team cannot address all needs in the first two days of the draft, the team can address several significant positions of need. And if the team remains nimble and not attached to players who may be selected before the team makes selections, the potential rookie class could be another success.
This is just one scenario. But it demonstrates just how many talented offensive players the Rams can add in just three selections. And the Rams, even in the face of losing every veteran on expired contracts, are still a formidable team.
Now, we are about to enter the 2025 NFL Free Agency market. We have so much to discuss. Stay tuned.
And as always, thanks for reading
