Rams draft success has left team with superb outlook for the future
The LA Rams draft classes have been better than expected for several years. The LA Rams drafted former Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams in Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has rushed 280 times for 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns, with three more games to go
The team drafted former Brigham Young University wide receiver Puka Nacua in Round 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has only played in nine games this season, but he has hauled in 61 of 83 passes for 805 receiving yards and three touchdowns. And he has three more games to go this season.
The team drafted former Arkansas interior offensive lineman Beaux Limmer in Round 5 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite the team boasting veterans at every position of the projected starting line, Limmer was a day 2 prospect who was too compelling to ignore in the draft. He has started almost every game for the Rams, played 807 offensive snaps, allowed just one quarterback sack and committed five penalties.
Those are just some of the rookies added to the team, all of whom were selected on Day 3.
Two dozen or so of significant contributors to this team have heard their names called out in one of the past three drafts, or were signed after those drafts concluded. Eventually, those inexpensive rookie contracts will expire, and the team will need to ante up for the select number of players deemed worth re-signing to the roster.
The Rams are one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. That fact should not be glossed over, as this team will only improve over the next several years.
