Just days ago, the LA Rams ended the Matthew Stafford saga in a way everyone thought it would end at the very start.
Stafford and the Rams agreed to a new deal, keeping him in Los Angeles. After what seemed like forever, everything ended up being just fine.
The Rams wouldn't have actually traded Matthew Stafford, right? This was all just fluff from the media, right?
Well, it depends on who you believe. But, the important thing is, he's staying.
Fast forward to the start of the NFL's legal tampering period portion of free agency and the Rams decided to make another notable move at the quarterback position.
The LA Rams are re-signing free agent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Rams are bringing back veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on a 1-year deal.
There was a ton of reported interest in Garoppolo from other teams, but head coach Sean McVay liked him a whole lot and decided to prioritize the backup quarterback early on ahead of any other moves.
Garoppolo is 33 years old and coming off his only season with the Rams, but at this point in his career, he might be better served acknowledging his services are better as a backup rather than trying to figure out where he could wind up starting again.
McVay likes him, and the feeling seems to be mutual.
Now, McVay and the Rams get to go into another season with a Super Bowl mindset. It's Stafford, Puka Nacua and newly-added wide receiver Davante Adams stealing the show on offense. Of course, don't forget Kyren Williams.
This offense should be one of the league's top units, yet again, but there are still question marks needing to be answered over the course of the offseason.
The next big domino might be seeing where Cooper Kupp ends up playing in 2025. The Rams are trying to trade Kupp and it's especially clear he will not return after the Adams signing.
