The LA Rams are 6-6, and that means that this team is stuck in the limbo of playing too well to end the season with a Top-10 pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. But it also means that after 12 games, this team is just as unlikely to play deep into the postseason. At least, not with the way the offense, defense, and special team units have played so far this season.

One of the challenges for the team has been a unique blend of new coaches, new players, and incessant injuries. Why? Well, new coaches and coordinators experiment with players in a swap out fashion to determine who is best suited for their respective roles. And experimentation is needed because it often means getting the right players on the field simultaneously. The Rams have gotten much better production out of ILB Christian Rozeboom since pairing him with rookie ILB Omar Speights, for example.

While there are multiple areas that need to be addressed by the team, one area that the team shows up rather poorly this season is run defense. The team has allowed an average of 144.2 rushing yards per game, which is no better ranking than 28th in the NFL. Worse yet, the team has allowed 125 rushing yards (New England Patriots), 314 rushing yards (Philadelphia Eagles), and 143 rushing yards (New Orleans Saints) in the past three games

That is not trending in the right direction.

The LA Rams are either concerned about the rigidity of their defensive front, or about the health of players currently on the roster. How can I conclude that? It's simple. Simply check out the team's latest practice squad signings:

It seems as though the team has an interest in run-stuffing blocker gobblers on the defensive line. Certainly, part of the interest in defensive linemen can be traced back to the Detroit Lions signing Rams defensive end Jonah Williams from the team's practice squad. But the team signed two players for the defensive front. So let's dive into the new roster additions and discuss how the team may view their roles going forward.
