Rams have one stat that proves they’re miles ahead of every NFL contender

This says it all.

The Los Angeles Rams might be coming off a disappointing (and shocking) loss to the Carolina Panthers but the sky is not falling for this team by any means. At 9-3, the Rams are currently the two-seed in the NFC playoffs, sitting behind only the Bears for the top spot.

While it's unfortunate that LA lost its grip on the number one seed in the conference, there is still a lot of football left to be played. The Rams are still one of the best teams, if not the best team, in the NFL this year and this key stat from Jeff Howe of The Athletic proves they'll be just fine.

Howe shared the current NFL playoff seedings along with those teams' records against teams who would be in the playoff picture if the season ended today. The Rams not only have played against more playoff teams than anyone else in the playoff picture, but they've mostly dominated those matchups, sitting with a 6-2 record.

Rams surprising dominance over contenders tells a scary story

Now, of course, the Rams have been able to rack up games against playoff teams in their division alone, already squaring off against the 49ers twice and the Seahawks once. Their two losses to teams in the postseason picture came against those same 49ers and also to the Eagles, who look a lot less daunting now.

Speaking of the Eagles, they hold the second-best record here at 3-2, which is quite telling to just how impressive the Rams' season has been so far. It's easy to panic after LA dropped a game to the confusing Panthers of all teams but hey, Carolina could very well work its way into the playoff picture as well so the Panthers aren't exactly scrubs here.

The fact of the matter is that, when push comes to shove, the Rams have proven that they know how to win against the teams they'll likely be facing in the playoffs. That should terrify the rest of not just the NFC but the AFC as well.
