Are the Los Angeles Rams ground zero for an upcoming zombie apocalypse? Believe it or not, that appears to be one of the latest conspiracy theories that have become popular in NFL circles in recent weeks. Perhaps they sprang from the absence of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford on the practice field? Or it may simply have been the overreaction of fans who sensationalized a back injury into something more dire.

Whatever the cause, internet speculation has crossed the line from wild to insane with the latest conspiracy theories. During an interview with Good Morning Football, co-host Kyle Brandt posed the question to Rams President Kevin Demoff about rumors that the starting quarterback was not an original version, but rather a clone of his former self:

The conspiracy theory rumors appear to have started when reports noted Matthew Stafford was spotted entering a mobile Ammortal Chamber. Since that event, the theory that the Rams' veteran quarterback was cloned has been going viral as one of the team's top stories.

Rams COO Kevin Demoff neither confirms nor disputes crazy rumors

With an opportunity to either confirm or deny the Rams rumors of cloning the starting quarterback, Rams President Kevin Demoff did not miss a beat as he was placed on the spot by his host. He laughed when first confronted by the rumor. But when asked to confirm 'proof of life' for the team's quarterback, he pivoted to give the hosts a different storyline.

He stated that he did not want to squelch the rumors because if Matthew Stafford has a phenomenal performance in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, he wants people to wonder if that was the original or the clone who delivered for the team. And after the emotional roller coaster that fans have endured throughout the offseason over their quarterback situation, a bit of tongue-in-cheek is well overdue.

While all readers are entitled to their opinions, an Ammortal Chamber is closer to a modified tanning bed than to a cloning device or an incubation chamber. The design focuses on multiple therapeutic strategies to relieve pain and facilitate healing of the human body. Getting soft tissue to heal is entirely dependent on promoting blood supply and circulation in the afflicted area.

Amidst all of the serious topics and news updates that fans have had to shoulder repeatedly, a bit of comic relief certainly is long overdue. Thanks to Rams COO Kevin Demoff and Good Morning Football co-host Kyle Brandt, a light-hearted story finally arrived. Thanks for reading.
