The 7-2 Los Angeles Rams have dodged significant injuries this season to the level of some teams. That is not to say that the team has not had to overcome adversity this season. The defense has suffered injuries to key defensive backs. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon suffered a broken collarbone and has been on injured reserve for weeks.

Darious Williams' shoulder injury prompted the team to trade for promising slot cornerback Roger McCreary.

But now, the defense must face the possibility of facing a stout 7-2 Seattle Seahawks without the dominating play of defensive tackle Kobie Turner, who has struggled to practice this week with a back injury. In a game against a formidable opponent, the absence of Turner along the defensive front is a huge setback.

Turner is a force along LA's defensive front. He averages 45 defensive snaps per game, or nearly 70 percent of the action. He is invaluable due to his versatility, both in his ability to play anywhere along the defensive front as well as his skillset that makes him every bit as dangerous as a run-stuffing blocker gobbler as a pass rusher and edge setter.

Kobie Turner must suit up to face the Seahawks this week

This season has been a relatively quiet year for The Conductor in terms of individual statistics. For an interior defensive lineman who averaged 9.0 quarterback sacks per season, his 1.5 quarterback sacks in 2025 have been a bit of an anomaly. But stepping away reveals the method to the madness.

Turner's presence, teaming up with nose tackle Poona Ford and inside linebacker Nate Landman, has elevated the run defense to among the top 10 in the NFL. Keep in mind how quickly the season deteriorated in 2024 when the team faced elite running backs. In 2025, this defense had held the upper hand.

And with linebackers Landman and Omar Speights behind him, he simply needs to occupy offensive linemen to allow his teammates to do what they do best. And that coordinated choreography has elevated the performance of the entire unit.

Because of the wear and tear on Ford as the linchpin to the defensive front, Turner slides over to help out.

If Turner is unable to go, the team will need to amplify the rotations of defensive linemen Braden Fiske, Tyler Davis, and Larrell Murchison, all of whom can make plays. But Turner is so effective and versatile that any absence is a huge setback for the team.

Kobie Turner is racing to recover in time to face the Seahawks in Week 11. Hopefully, he will be able to suit up and play. If not, well... let's not even think about it.

As always, thanks for reading.
