Rams Les Snead free agency blueprint: 3 tiers of free agent targets to know

Many fans are overlooking the value of the NFL free agency market to propel the Rams back into contention. GM Les Snead isn't.

The 2026 Los Angeles Rams remain in an all-in window. And that should not come as a surprise to fans who are quite familiar with the scenario.

It was a similar strategy that earned general manager Les Snead the infamous 'F them picks' avatar that was splashed on T-shirts and coffee mugs.

Fresh off a campaign where veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford secured his first NFL MVP, the Rams are looking to capitalize on Super Bowl 61 being held at their home, SoFi Stadium. As such, the team is likely seeking veteran free agents to plug-and-play, rather than invest in rookies who need time to grow into their full potential.

Time is something this team doesn't have in abundance.

With approximately $44M in cap space and a desperate need to solidify a secondary that struggled down the stretch, Snead is expected to be aggressive. Here is a look at a potential blueprint this spring.

Rams Les Snead free agency blueprint

1. The "Dream" Blue-Chip: DB Jamel Dean

The Rams' secondary was their Achilles' heel in 2025. To get Stafford one more ring, they need more talent on the outside, moreso, a corner who can live in isolation against the division's elite wideouts.

  • The Fit: Dean finished 2025, allowing a league-best 46.9 passer rating when targeted. At 6-foot-1, he has the length and speed that DC Chris Shula covets for his scheme, and Dean could be the veteran missing piece that turns a good defense into a championship one.
  • The Price Tag: Expect a deal in the neighborhood of $16M+ AAV. However, for a team with two first-round picks and MVP aspirations, this is the blue-chip move that could define an offseason.

2. Tier Two: LB Devin Bush

The Rams have long neglected the inside linebacker position, often relying on late-round gems or league-minimum veterans. But with Devin Bush coming off a massive breakout season in Cleveland, it’s time for an upgrade.

  • The Fit: Bush has reinvented himself as a high-speed, sideline-to-sideline playmaker. He would provide the Rams with the athleticism needed to mirror the mobile QBs of the West and vastly improve their coverage over the middle.
  • The Price Tag: Expect a deal around 3 years, $12M per. It’s a significant investment for a linebacker in the Rams' system, but his 2025 tape proves he’s worth the realistic splurge.

3. The "Bargain" Prove-It: WR Romeo Doubs

With the retirement of Rob Havenstein, shifting focus to the trenches, the Rams need to find value in the skill positions. Tutu Atwell is a pending free agent, and while Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are present, the depth behind them remains thin.

  • The Fit: He’s a bigger body, a 6-foot-2 who can win at the line of scrimmage, providing Stafford with a reliable third option when teams double-team Adams or Nacua.
  • The Price Tag: High-upside bargain. Following a crowded WR market, Doubs could be available on a two-year, $14M type deal -- an ideal bridge contract that keeps the offense explosive without hampering the cap.

Free Agency is getting overlooked. But don't expect Snead to do so. He knows that Stafford's next Super Bowl only happens with shrewd shopping in the NFL free agency market.

So expect him to shop aggressively.
