The LA Rams agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, an agreement that ensures that he will return to the team in time for the 2025 training camp and season. But the Rams were not done. In fact, with the news that Stafford was back, the team doubled down on a matter that I believed is just as vital to the team in 2025, and perhaps even moreso.
Extending Alaric Jackson as the starting left tackle of the Rams offensive line has a great deal of benefits for the team. For starters, it takes the team instantly out of the market of having to find a new left tackle. While the Rams have a Round 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the fact that they hold the 26th overall pick of the draft means that the team will be making a selection at the end of that round. And there is no assurance that offensive tackles will last that long on Day 1.
Another benefit to returning Alaric Jackson for 2025 is that this team may finally have the benefit of continuity. That means that the Rams will have an opportunity to enter training camp knowing that last year's starting offensive linemen will all be back once more. The Rams have not enjoyed that for many years.
And of course, we cannot overlook the positive emotional impact that extending LT Alaric Jackson has on his teammates. Perhaps the move should best be judged by the reaction of starting left guard Steve Avila, who did not hesitate to show his reaction to the social media news of Alaric Jackson's extension.
And with one opportunity to express himself, the Rams veteran interior offensive lineman shard a perfect reaction to the news:

Steve Avila is the closest player to Alaric Jackson on the Rams roster. They are separate players, but they often must work together to ensure that the Rams can handle defensive stunts and blitzes. So it's very telling that Avila is thrilled over the news that Jackson will be lining up next to him for 2025. And that also leads Avila to believe that should he sustain his level of performance, a bigger payday awaits him at the end of his rookie contract.
The Rms offensive line will remain intact for 2025. And that is not only great news for LG Steve Avila, but is great news for a rumor-weary Rams fanbase.
