The Los Angeles Rams are in win-now mode, given that Matthew Stafford is nearing the end of his decorated career. We saw how dominant Stafford could continue to be, even at age 37, with the right weapons, and the Rams will likely continue to give him talented guys to throw to.
One name that might be a bit unexpected but could make some sense is Tyreek Hill, who was recently released by the Miami Dolphins as they look to tear everything down and rebuild. Michael Haney of Phin Phanatic wrote about this exact scenario, noting that Los Angeles could be the perfect landing spot for the former Chief and Dolphin.
"The Los Angeles Rams are in the middle of an all-out push for a Super Bowl appearance, and Hill might be the missing piece they need to reach their goals in 2026.
With Puka Nacua and Davante Adams already in place, it may seem like the Rams don't have a need for another receiver. But they still lack a top deep threat to stretch out defenses vertically."
This part is certainly true. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams gave Stafford two top-tier talents to throw to, and it clearly paid off to the tune of an MVP award for the veteran quarterback. That being said, adding Hill would be a significant risk for the Rams.
In the past, his talent outweighed the baggage and drama he provided, but coming off an injury at age 32 makes this a far less appealing scenario for the win-now Rams to be in.
Rams could be a fit for Tyreek Hill but is he worth the risk?
Haney also pointed out how this move makes sense for Hill and it's hard to argue too much with this point:
"The move would make sense from the receiver's perspective, too. After a couple of disappointing seasons in Miami, he may want to join a team with true championship aspirations. AFC contenders may be the front-runners to land him, but a move to one of the best teams in the NFC could give him a clear path to winning another Super Bowl ring. The Rams have proven that they are willing to be aggressive to create a winning roster, so they may be ready to dish out a lucrative contract in free agency."
There's no doubt that the Rams would be an attractive team to end up with for Hill because, as Haney stated, they have a strong chance to win a Super Bowl. If Hill is trying to get one more ring before he hangs up the cleats, Los Angeles would be a great spot for him to try and do that.
What the Rams will need to consider here is if they believe A) that Hill is still capable of doing what used to make him great now that he's suffered a major injury and is past his prime, and B) if they're ready to deal with the drama he brings with him. Hill is definitely a receiver who will start spouting off on social media when things aren't going his way and the Rams might decide they don't need that.
Hill to the Rams is an interesting thought but this might be a player that fans are more than okay with passing on.
