Rams must consider 1 of these falling prospects on Day 2 of 2025 NFL Draft

Stars are falling in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Rams should consider picking up a star on Day 2.

Yes, the Los Angeles Rams traded out of Round 1 to get a 2026 NFL Draft pick in Round 1 from the Atlanta Falcons. But the Rams are not the only ones who moved to Day 2 in this year's draft. Many players who were thought to come off the draft board on Day 1 are still on the draft board. And as such, NFL teams have had nearly 24 hours to regroup, research, and return to Day 2 of the draft to make their selections.

And some of the first players selected on Day 2 of this year's draft are named below. So now, the question is, who will be selected in Round 2?

The list above only covers offensive players. But there is an equal number of defensive players who remain available. So let's discuss a few players whose fall could land them on the Rams roster:

Michigan CB Will Johnson

The Rams did not get any roster help on Day 1, but don't let that dishearten you. Only two true cornerbacks were selected, along with Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter, so many talented players who have a legitimate chance to earn a starting role in the Rams' secondary this year are available. The best true cornerback in this draft is still on the board in Michigan cornerback Will Johnson

He fell because he has medical flags that teams were unable to clear in time for the draft. He suffered a bothersome Turf Toe in 2024. But even more concerning is the question about the health of his knees.

The Rams know that the shelf life of an NFL player with questionable knee health can stunt a player's career, as in RB Todd Gurley. Still, at some point the balance tips from avoid to select as the limited career (if concerns are true) of an elite player is better than a normal career of an average player.

QB Shedeur Sanders

I don't think that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is lacking as much as some make his situation out to be. Nor do I think that the overhyped sensationalism of Sanders did him or anyone any favors. Sanders was the passer who put WR Travis Hunter on the map for NFL teams. But he was cursed with a porous offensive line, a limited running game, and too few talented offensive weapons.

In short, it's not that Sanders cannot do something. It's just that he didn't have the time or offense to confirm that he could. And it didn't help his cause that some draft analysts (I'm looking at you, Mel Kiper) promoted Sanders beyond reason.

Sanders fell, as many expected.

Sanders is still a solid quarterback in the right offense for the right team. Now that he has fallen into Day 2, perhaps he will become the right value for a team to select him.

Edge Mike Green

Small football program star players fight the glass ceiling of not having a full collegiate body of work against some of the more competitive programs in college. That appears to be the case for Marshall star edge rusher Mike Green, a rookie who many draft analysts considered among the top three players at his position in this draft:

The question that contributed to his Day 1 drop is still in play. Can Green duplicate his sensational college football production in the pros? Any team that is satisfied that he can compete in the NFL will move quickly to select Green.

QB Jalen Milroe

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is the true enigma of Day 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite a draft profile that projects him as a Round 3 rookie prospect, he was invited to attend the 2025 NFL Draft. As a result, he sat out the entirety of Round 1, patiently waiting as no team called out his name. And now, through no fault of his own, he is viewed as damaged goods.

In reality, he is merely falling to the spot in the draft where many expected him to hear his name called out.

Milroe is a rookie quarterback who stands 6-foot-2, weighs 217 pounds, and runs a 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds. If you think that is fast, you are correct. Milroe is one of the fastest quarterbacks ever recorded in NFL history. The question is, what can an NFL offense do with all that speed?

Milroe is an average quarterback who is blessed with elite speed. Could that combination become a dangerous weapon for the Rams offense in 2025? Definitely. Imagine a wildcat package of about 10 plays that place Milroe on the football field alongside Matthew Stafford. The Rams could direct hike to Milroe who could run, throw, or simply throw the football back to Matthew Stafford. Milroe could even hand off the football.

The possibilities are endless. The only hiccup to this scenario is the fact that the Rams need to add Jalen Milroe to the roster. If he falls to Round 3 or 4, that may trigger enough value to warrant his selection.

As always, thanks for reading.
