While he is playing in his first NFL season, LA Rams rookie outside linebacker Jared Verse has the presence of an NFL veteran edge rusher in the prime of his career. He checks all of the boxes for an outside linebacker. That is to say that he sets the edge, sheds blockers, covers passes, stuffs the run, and applies incredible pressure on opposing quarterbacks. And then, as if that is not enough, he adds a bit of trash-talking to make his mark on opposing players.
Verse loves to chat, as it allows him to get inside his opponent's head and wear him down throughout the game. But he has been known to engage fans as well. In Week 8, he turned the cheers and jeers of visiting Vikings fans into motivation after they disrespected an injured teammate. That motivation pushed Verse into one of the most dominating games of the 2024 NFL season.
His teammate, DT Braden Fiske, named the Seattle Seahawks fans as the worst in the NFL. And that seems to be how the Rams rookie tandem rolls in their first NFL season.
What's been #Rams DT Braden Fiske FAVORITE of his rookie-leading 6 sacks this season??? 👀

Fiske: "Any of the Seattle ones... I'm tired of hearing from their fans."
Kay: "Seattle fans chirp the most?"
Fiske: "Oh yeah, Seattle fans are the worst." 😅@heykayadams @RamsNFL… pic.twitter.com/1dstGWsSF2
So it was only mildly surprising when Jared Verse, ahead of the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs, cited the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles, as the fans he hates most. Of course, his reaction is likely entirely justified, as Eagles fans travel well, and they almost certainly made their presence known at SoFi Stadium earlier this season.
A fact that Verse pointed out willingly:
Rams linebacker Jared Verse says he hates Eagles fans, finds them annoying, and they screamed obscenities at him when the teams met in the regular season. He should be ready for more of that on Sunday. https://t.co/qJZgmpGFZB

But is this a wise move?
Perhaps not, as anything said to or about opposing teams ends up on the bulletin board of that team. And those comments have a nasty habit of motivating opponents. Will Verse's comments about Eagles fans bite the team this weekend? Perhaps, perhaps not. But I know that if he was unhappy with how fans treated him at SoFi Stadium in Week 12, that was just an appetizer for the treatment he will get from Eagles fans at home at Lincoln Financial Field.
Perhaps he is counting on that. After all, it's better to know than guess. Right now, Rams rookie OLB Jared Verse knows that he has the attention of Philadelphia Eagles fans. They will be more than happy to tell him when they see him.
