Imagine for a second that you do not have your heart set on a particular NFL rookie quarterback prospect. That could be where Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead is right now. Even as the team knows that it must address the 'Who plays quarterback after Matthew Stafford?' question, it seems that the team has not reached a definitive solution.
That sets the stage for Snead to surprise fans and NFL analysts alike. Right now, the team has been linked to such quarterback prospects as Penn State's Drew Allar and Alabama's Ty Simpson. But what if the team was already keen on Arkansas quarterback Talyen Green?
Well, if they were, they find themselves no longer alone in the appreciation of the Razorbacks quarterback. He just wowed NFL scouts and analysts alike with his NFL combine performance, showcasing elite athleticism.
Originally projected as a Day 3 selection, Taylen Green offers plenty of intriguing qualities. Standing 6-foot-6 while weighing in at 227 pounds, Green has the towering profile of an NFL quarterback. And he has the touch to deliver deep passes gently into the arms of receivers.
While blessed with the ability to scramble for a first down, he remains focused downfield for the open receiver until he bolts. Best of all, he developed significantly after transferring to Arkansas.
Rams may take a chance on Taylen Green
The only thing holding Taylen Green back from a prosperous NFL career is time and patience. That is just what the LA Rams can offer. So it makes sense that the same team that is linked to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson could be keen on selecting his rookie quarterback doppleganger.
Man this was fun… record setting QB Taylen Green! He walked me through every aspect of his combine performance with his dynamic personality… plus, his fiancée is also competing today - and his future in the NFL💪@RazorbackFB @nflnetwork @NFLGameDay pic.twitter.com/eVgoVj9q17

Los Angeles is riddled with quarterback whisperers on the coaching staff. The addition of Kliff Kingsbury to the staff adds the dimension to run the offense with a dual-threat quarterback. That opens the door to Taylen Green as a draft option.
No quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft can be viewed as a slam dunk. While there are plenty of prospects, they all have some vulnerability to their future. Even Fernando Mendoza, presumed to be the top choice of the draft, was a huge surprise in 2025. But even the most enthusiastic NFL GMs and analysts have to question whether he is simply a one-hit wonder.
No risk, no reward.
The team is not fettered to the quarterback position alone. The team has multiple needs to address throughout the offseason. But if Snead can add the quarterback of the future on Day 3, his reputation will truly skyrocket. He landed running back Kyren Williams and wide receiver Puka Nacua on the third day of their respective drafts.
So finding a future franchise quarterback on Day 3 merely completes the set.
As always, thanks for reading.
