With just two games remaining in the 11-4 Los Angeles Rams schedule, you may be under the impression that it's all over but the shouting. Still, there are valid reasons to believe that the Horns still have some fight in them. Perhaps the best place to confirm that is the first place to look. Los Angeles has a potent running game.

The running back room is on pace to rush for over 2,100 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. That's pretty impressive for a group that had not had a 100+ yards performance from a single running back until Week 9.

And right now, Blake Corum has rushed for a touchdown in four consecutive games.

Like it or not, running the football is a fundamental component of LA's DNA. This franchise has played in multiple cities, but the ground game has been its trademark. While the team has not handed off to rookie running back Jarquez Hunter yet, the duo of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum has been superbly successful.

And it may very well be the running game that determines the success or failure of the Rams in the postseason. After all, it's getting hot at the right time of year.

Why Rams rushing attack promises solid results in NFL Playoffs

Since taking over in 2017, head coach Sean McVay has placed more emphasis on his wide receivers than tight ends or running backs. But in 2021, the offense benefited from a ground attack that featured both Sony Michel and Darrell Henderson Jr. The offense is getting more oomph from rushing in 2025.

Yes, there is hard data available that proves the LA Rams running backs are in a league unto themselves in terms of consistency and explosiveness this year. It's the ability of Williams and Corum combined to churn out yards and score points that has supercharged the offense of late. And there are no signs that it will slow down in the postseason.

Unfortunately, the team lost another starting offensive lineman, right guard Kevin Dotson, who is unlikely to return before the playoffs.

NFL teams do not need to be the best at running the football to succeed in the postseason. They merely have to have an effective ground attack that allows the offense to keep defenses honest. So far, Los Angeles is getting far more from the running back room than deception and confusion.

Why does it matter? As long as the offense has the football and is moving the chains, the opponent will struggle to score points. The best way to ensure that happens is to ensure that running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum or integral to the offensive game plan.

As always, thanks for reading.
