Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead is the king of blockbuster trades. He proved why by pulling off a complete shocker today, sending a future first-round pick, third-year edge rusher Jared Verse, and more to acquire 2025 DPOY Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.
It is a move that further cements the hierarchy in the NFC West, entrenching the Horns as Super Bowl frontrunners.
As Rams fans will remember, LA made a blockbuster trade in 2021 to reinforce the team's pass rush with veteran outside linebacker Von Miller. It yielded a Super Bowl then, so why not try again in 2026? The deal pairs Garrett with surging outside linebacker Byron Young, setting up the Rams' pass rush to be one of the most feared in the NFL:

Bombshell: The #Browns are finalizing a trade of Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams in a shocker, sources tell me, @TomPelissero & @AdamSchefter.

Garrett dominated the line of scrimmage in 2025, recording an NFL-record 23.0 sacks for the Browns. Young led LA's defense with 12.0 sacks last season. This deal pushes the defense into an elite category.
Les Snead still sees blockbuster trades as his go-to strategy
Whispers grew in volume in the earlier part of the day, but the whole Garrett-to-the-Rams concept seemed like too much, too soon to be based on anything more than wishful thinking. But NFL rumors involving Les Snead are always within the realm of possibilities. The team needed a better pass rush in 2026. Now, they've got it.
The Rams have a long-standing tradition of focusing on edge rusher, cornerback, wide receiver, quarterback, and blind-side tackle as the foundational pieces for a championship roster. Garrett certainly brings that to Los Angeles.
At what cost? That is sure to become a boisterous talking point when the initial shock wears off. Verse may have underwhelmed last season, but the Florida State alum was an absolute stud as a rookie and still boasts loads of promise. We already know a 2027 first-round pick is included in the deal, with further details pending.
No doubt, that's a haul, especially considering that the Rams sacrificed significant draft capital to acquire cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs earlier this offseason.
But Snead's vision is starting to shine through. After the draft, some analysts ridiculed the team for taking quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick. Say what you want, the move means the Rams won't need to invest in a rookie quarterback next season. Addressing that need now freed up the 2027 first-rounder to spend on Garrett with no qualms about leaving the franchise short-handed at the most important position in the future.
Not only that, with the Garrett addition, Los Angeles proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the team is all-in to win Super Bowl LXI. Horns up.
As always, thanks for reading.
