The Los Angeles Rams may have filled the most noticeable vacancies on the roster, but the work of GM Les Snead is far from over. After all, the team has signed fewer new free agents than the team has lost. And the team traded a veteran away, and outright released two other players. It's the same story each offseason. The Rams front office takes the wall down to the studs before the new season remodel work begins.
The team has some areas of more free agency attrition. One such area was the defensive line, where NT Bobby Brown III, NT Neville Gallimore, and DT Larrell Murchison all faced expiring contracts. Both Brown and Gallimore have already found new teams for 2025. In response, the Rams signed former Los Angeles Chargers NT Poona Ford. Ford is a sneaky good signing, as he was one of the toughest players that former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce had to face.
Now, the Rams have added another defensive lineman to join him. He is veteran DL Larrell Murchison, a player who has had two seasons playing for the Rams defense, but who has had limited playing time due to injuries.
We have agreed to terms with DT Larrell Murchison on a 1-year deal. ⤵️

While we know what we had in both Bobby Brown and Neville Gallimore, there is a lot remaining to figure out about Larrell Murchison.
Murchison played 306 defensive snaps in the past two seasons. Despite limited playing time, he has put up 22 tackles, 2.0 quarterback sacks, three tackles for a loss, and two quarterback hits. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 285, Murchison has the size, speed, and power to slide into any position on the Rams defensive front.
While some fans may not view Murchison's return in as positive light as it deserves, he showed up for the Rams in 2023 and almost instantly recorded two quarterback sacks. He has never had enough playing time to truly get into a groove and build upon the previous game.
While there are no guarantees that he will find durability in 2025, it's one more chance to prove what he can do. The Rams front office did not extend either Neville Gallimore or Bobby Brown III. Perhaps that was the effect of other team's offering up more than the Rams were willing to pay.
Larrell Murchison is back, and the Rams brought him back for good reason. I'm eager to see what he adds to the defense in 2025.
As always, thanks for reading.
