The Los Angeles Rams own the 26th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Rams fans got tired of hearing about the recent history of the team not having a first-round selection so it was a relief when last year, that streak finally ended. The team selected Jared Verse in round one and all was right in the world.
Well, in the latest mock draft roundup, one draft expert has the team once again bowing out of the first round. This time, however, it's not to acquire a playmaker but rather to gain draft capital. The other two mocks have the Rams staying put but adding help on the defensive side of the ball.
Rams make a trade in NFL mock draft roundup
NBC Sports: Trade out of first-round
Kyle Dvorchak of NBC Sports didn't have the Rams making a first-round selection because he had them making a trade with the New York Giants. The trade allowed the Giants to slide into the 26th pick to take Shedeur Sanders, who had a massive slide in the first round.
Truthfully, if Sanders was available when the Rams were on the clock, would it really surprise anyone if they took him with the 26th pick? Matthew Stafford's NFL career is closer to the end than it is to the beginning so if Sanders is there and Sean McVay thinks he could lead this offense down the road, I say go for it.
That being said, adding draft capital is never a bad idea either. As for what the Rams might receive in return, Dvorchak stated, "The Giants would be moving up from pick No. 34, meaning they would likely need to give up a third-round pick and potentially more to swing this deal."

NFL.com: Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE (Boston College)
Maurice Jones-Drew of NFL.com mentioned that even though the Rams took an EDGE rusher in the first round of last year's draft, "You can never have enough pass rushers in the NFL, so the Rams take Ezeiruaku to boost an already strong front."
Jones-Drew is absolutely correct here. The Rams lost Aaron Donald last offseason and replacing him is no easy task so why not keep stacking the deck with young pass rushers? Donovan Ezeiruaku had a whopping 16.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss during his final year at Boston College.

CBS Sports: Trey Amos, CB (Ole Miss)
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports paired the Rams with Trey Amos because "History suggests Los Angeles does not value secondary players at this stage of the draft, but a long-term answer at cornerback has evaded the Rams since parting with Jalen Ramsey."
Amos split his five-year collegiate career between three different schools and had three interceptions this past year for Ole Miss, where he played in 2024. He also defended 13 passes and, as Edwards noted, would give the Rams a young player to slot into their secondary.
