In an initial response to the wave of injuries rocking the roster, the Los Angeles Rams have made several moves over the past two days. Tuesday, they signed kicker Brandon McManus to replace the injured Blake Grupe. On Wednesday, they signed edge rusher Darryl Peterson III from the practice squad to the active roster.

They also signed undrafted free agent Jalen Hunt, a defensive tackle who played college ball at Cincinnati last season, to the practice squad.

Most of yesterday's injury updates from head coach Sean McVay were nothing noteworthy. With how many there are, though, the injury situation is worth recapping along with the team's roster moves and rumors ahead of Sunday's road game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Injuries

Linebacker Nate Landman was a new addition to the injury report. McVay said that Landman entered concussion protocol and Monday and would not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Cornerback Trent McDuffie, still day-to-day with a groin injury, was also a DNP.

Grupe (ACL), Poona Ford (triceps), Kobie Turner (groin), and Davante Adams (hamstring) have all been moved to injured reserve. No surprise there.

Grupe and Ford are done for the year. Turner is expected to miss multiple weeks, while Adams will miss six to 10. McVay said that Adams will have a surgical "cleanup" procedure but that this was already accounted for in his estimated return timeline.

McVay has previously said that Myles Garrett would not return to practice this week from IR. NFL Adam Schefter reported that tight end Terrance Ferguson isn't expected to return when he becomes eligible in Week 8.

Injured reserve is getting crowded. Teams can activate up to eight players from IR during the regular season (and two more during the playoffs). Thus far, only rookie tackle Keagen Trost has returned. The Rams now have seven other key contributors left on IR.

Roster moves

Darryl Peterson III was previously elevated from the practice squad in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now the rookie edge rusher has a spot on the 53-man roster, joining fellow UDFA Wesley Bailey, who made the team out of camp.

As a seventh-year senior for the Bearcats last season, his only full-time campaign, Hunt recorded 25 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. In all he spent three seasons with Cincinnati and two at Michigan State. Listed at 6-foot-2, 310 pounds in his prospect profile, Hunt was projected as a seventh-rounder or priority free agent ahead of the draft.

The Rams signed McManus after he beat out 19-year-veteran Matt Prater in Tuesday's competition. After struggling with the Green Bay Packers last season, McManus gets his next shot in Los Angeles.

Rumors

In response to what appeared to be a question asking whether the Rams would look into making further moves, McVay cited depth on the current roster and said the team would focus primarily on its practice squad talent. Veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks, signed earlier this month, would be a candidate to replace Landman if the latter does not clear protocol, McVay confirmed.

Other reports, however, claim that the Rams are exploring potential receiver trades in the wake of Adams' injury. One buy-low target could be the Jacksonville Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr. He made the Pro Bowl and  All-Pro Second Team as a rookie but has disappointed since.
