Rams Week 9 had it all, the good, the bad, the ugly, and a Hollywood ending
By Bret Stuter
This was a game that the LA Rams had to win. But the team entered the game knowing that the team had a temp punter who was signed and coached up this week. So it was quite important that the Rams offense drive the football, consume the clock, and keep new punter Ty Zentner out of important moments of the game.
Yeah, right.
The LA Rams offense seemed to be missing in action in this one. The Rams opened the game with four consecutive offensive drives that ended in punts. That includes the team getting the football off another rookie DB Jaylen McCollough interception. Despite starting that offensive drive at the 50-yard line, the Rams could not inch close enough for a field goal, and punted at the Seattle Seahawks 38-yard line.
After the team's 30-point outburst (28 points of offense), you hate to see it.
The Rams finally did move the ball to the Seahawks 18-yard line. The Rams had their first Red Zone appearance. After two incompletions and a fumble by quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Rams sent out the field goal team. But in their first offensive possession after the Rams kicked a field goal to score the team's first three points, the Seahawks drove the football field and scored a touchdown.
And just like that, the Rams fell behind. Fortunately, OLB Michael Hoecht blocked the extra-point attempt.
