Recent mock draft shows the Rams have a chance to pull off a dream scenario

The Los Angeles Rams are focused on winning a Super Bowl right now, but the 2026 NFL Draft could be huge for them if this dream scenario plays out.

After 14 weeks, the 10-3 Los Angeles Rams are arguably the best team in the NFL. Sitting atop the NFC with a 10-3 record, the Rams believe they have all the ingredients necessary to win a Super Bowl. With four weeks left in the regular season, winning it all is the only focus for Los Angeles. A lot of teams can’t relate to that.

There are fans throughout the league whose only focus right now is draft positioning.

While the 2026 Draft is the last thing on the Rams’ mind, it could end up being a monumental moment for the franchise. The reason why is that the team has a chance to pull off the rare feat of winning the Super Bowl and drafting No. 1. PFF’s Trevor Sikkema laid out part of that scenario in a recent 2026 mock draft.

Sikkema projected the Rams trading up to No. 1 to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Los Angeles will have a realistic chance to make this move because of the first-round pick they acquired from the Atlanta Falcons in the 2025 Draft. The Falcons are currently 4-9, which would give the Rams the ninth-overall pick if the draft started after Week 14. Los Angeles would be able to package that pick, its original pick that will be near the end of the first round, and much more to move up for Mendoza.

The Indiana quarterback has led the No. 1 college football team this season and is expected to win the Heisman trophy. Mendoza is also expected to be the top quarterback taken in the 2026 Draft. Considering how the quarterback class is shaping up, he has a chance to be the only first-round quarterback. That means all quarterback-needy teams will want to move up and select him.

The Rams aren’t entirely a quarterback-needy team because they have veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, the veteran is nearing the end of his career, and Los Angeles hasn’t identified a successor. Mendoza could certainly be the guy, but it will be expensive to get him.

One thing Rams fans know, though, general manager Les Snead doesn’t mind sacrificing picks to go get a player they want. That’s why it’s a realistic possibility the Rams could win the Super Bowl, and be the first team to make a pick on draft night.
