We've had plenty of NFL rumors, but one reported just hours before the actual Los Angeles Rams schedule was so detailed that it felt like the rumored Los Angeles Rams schedule leak was from a reliable source. And it turns out, the only tweek needed was to move the Rams Week 9 BYE to Week 8. The source of those rumors was incredibly accurate this year.
As it stands now, the Rams are projected to travel to face the Houston Texans in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season. And yet, that is the same team that just drafted a top-pick rookie quarterback out of the University of Miami.
Welcome to the NFL, Cam Ward.
The Rams were certainly ripe for exploitation by rookies in 2024. Cardinals rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. put on an offensive display in Week 2 against the Rams one year ago. But that was a new defense, crippled by injuries, and still trying to get its feet underneath it. I suspect a far different narrative in 2025.
If the schedule leak is true, the Rams fierce pass rush is set to spoil Cam Wards home debut. The Titans are rumored to open their season on the road against the Denver Broncos, and return home to face the Rams. It's no stretch of the imagination to see the Titans opening their 2025 NFL season with two consecutive losses.
While the Rams' pass rush was not prominent in the early part of the 2024 NFL season, the Rams stepped up in a big way in the 2025 NFL Playoffs. To be fair, if you throw out the running of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, the Rams defense was on fire in the postseason.
The Rams secondary allowed just 114 passing yards per game. The Rams pass rushed sacked the opposing quarterback eight times per game. And that is the defense that rookie QB Cam Ward has to face in Week 2. The Titans had better split offensive snaps in practice that week with their backup quarterback Will Levis, just to be safe.
The Rams have gotten off to a far too pedestrian start in each of the past two seasons. In 2023, the Rams started with a record of 3-6 before winning seven of the last eight games played. In 2024, the Rams opened with a record of 1-4 before turning the corner to win nine of the last 12 games. The Rams need to do better in 2025.
And Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward just happens to stand in their way of doing so. Nothing personal, but the Rams mean business this season.
As always, thanks for reading.
