The Los Angeles Rams may finally be getting their offensive act together. Despite losing star wide receiver Puka Nacua, the Week 7 results were impressive. Los Angeles should return to its full-strength offense in the next game.
The question is, does the offense have enough talent and depth to do so?
This could be the right time for general manager Les Snead to make an under-the-radar roster move that could pay off handsomely.
It makes sense for the Rams to offer a next-to-nothing trade offer to the New York Jets to re-acquire veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
Reynolds played for Los Angeles and head coach Sean McVay from 2017 through 2020. Did Snead and Co. give up on him too soon? Perhaps, as LA tried to claim him off waivers in 2021 but lost him to the Detroit Lions.
Still, he is one of the players who make sense to reunite with his former squad.
Rams could flourish with veteran WR Josh Reynolds
Reynolds is a 30-year-old large target wide receiver who has been blessed with height and speed. The offense needs another experienced receiver option, and Reynolds can deliver that.
His 58.4-percent catch rate won't impress, but Reynolds averages 13.2 yards per reception over his career. He knows LA's offense but has never played with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. Yet the receiver is a difficult matchup for defenses with his size and speed.
Best of all, Snead could pry him away from the Jets for a Round 7 pick in 2028, or something of equivalent value.
Reynolds is a veteran who could arrive and quickly plug into McVay's offense. The veteran may not be putting up 100 yards per game, but he doesn't need to. He simply has to give defensive secondaries one more target to defend. Should injuries occur, McVay has one more weapon to absorb the workload.
If the Rams want to stay successful for the remainder of the season, trading for a familiar offensive weapon before the NFL trade deadline should be on the to-do list.
As always, thanks for reading.
