(3) - Scenario I: Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young to LA Rams

This one has been the bonfire of hot NFL rumors. But I've steered clear of the chatter so far because the details seem to be caught in a closed loop of zany details. NFL trades, unlike the NBA, are almost exclusively two teams that are engaged in a trade to move specific players. But almost all trade scenarios that have reached social media have involved three or more teams.

Those multi-team scenarios are unlikely to gain any traction because it only takes one team to veto the deal to send it onto the scrap heap.

I don't mean to mix apples and oranges in this assessment. But check out the 'compensation' required from the Rams to participate in the mental gyrations below. In one scenario, the Rams are asked to surrender veteran QB Matthew Stafford PLUS a 2025 Round 3 pick to acquire a prospect many NFL analysts are already considering to be a bus. In the 'revised' exchange, the Rams must surrender a 2025 Round 1 pick, plus QB Jimmy Garoppolo, for QB Bryce Young, OG Landon Young, OG Zak Zinter, and RB Nick Chubb.

That leaves the Rams with no picks in Round 1 or 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft, a shaky QB room, a surplus of five running backs, all on the active roster, and a surplus of six or more interior offensive linemen.

Sure, I'm no NFL general manager. But neither of these publicly shared trade scenarios remotely improve the Rams roster one iota. And that is before we factor in the risks of adding a young quarterback whose confidence is shaken and who has struggled to develop.
