The cat is out of the bag over this ideal fit rookie prospect for the LA Rams

Will he still be on the board when the Rams make their Round 1 selection? Perhaps, but his secret is out of the bag now.

It's impossible not to connect the Los Angeles Rams with offensive rookie prospects from Iowa State in the 2025 NFL Draft. More specifically, Iowa State boasts a pair of very talented rookie wide receiver prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft in the form of WRs Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. You see, former Iowa State offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase is currently on the Rams coaching staff and was recently promoted to Passing Game Coordinator.

Scheelhaase was the offensive guru who prepared then-QB Brock Purdy to flourish in the NFL And now, two receivers who had benefited from Scheelhaase's guidance are about to begin their own NFL careers. And with the personal connection to Nate Scheelhaase, who coaches for the LA Rams, the connection to the Rams is simply a natural and logical next step.

Of course, that connection will only become a factor if Jayden Higgins or Jaylin Noel are on the draft board when the LA Rams make a selection. It's late in the process, but legendary NFL WR Steve Smith Sr. has been breaking down Jayden Higgins production and style, and asserts that Higgins could be among the top-three best rookie wide receivers in this draft.

That is knowing that the list include Colorado WR Travis Hunter, Missouri WR Luther Burden III, Texas WR Matthew Golden, Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan, Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, TCU WR Jack Bech, and Iowa State WR Jaydin Higgins. That's a lot of talent on fhe draft board. So, what do these analysts see in Jayden Higgins to make his so special?

Let's break it down:

(3) - Can't beat this size/speed combination

Jayden Higgins stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 214 pounds. Smallish Rams veteran WR Tutu Atwell's claim to fame in the NFL is his speed, posting a 4.32-second time for a 40-yard dash. Higgins can race a 40-yard dash in just 4.47 seconds. That is incredibly swift for a big-bodied receiver. He can catch the football and possesses an outstanding wingspan that falls just shy of 80 inches (6-foot-10). That combination is unstoppable in the NFL.

(2) - He is versatile and productive

Higgins is an immediate deep threat with his blazing speed. He is an instant possession type receiver in short and intermediate depth with his size and Stretch Armstrong wingspan. He creates mismatches all over opposing defenses, and he has not even mastered the Rams level of blocking of receivers.

While he comes with a full book of business, he can learn how to ensure separation by learning from veteran WR Davante Adams, how to block and play tough from WR Puka Nacua, and how to foil NFL secondaries deep from WR Tutu Atwell.

(1) His familiarity with Scheelhaase gives him a leg up for his rookie season

Perhaps one of the most difficult of any rookie offensive weapon is earning HC Sean McVay's trust in competing in his offense. I don't see that trouble occurring with Jayden Higgins, specifically because he already has a trusted rapport with Offensive Passing Game Coordinator Nate Scheelhaase. An established relationship for offensive rookies who are trying to make headway in the NFL with members of the coaching staff is a huge advantage.

In the end, Higgins may not even last to the 26th overall pick for the Rams to have an opportunity to select him. But if he is there, the Rams would be wise to jump on the chance to add him to this offense. He brings plenty of immediate production, but also the promise of a game-changing offensive weapon for HC Sean McVay for years to come.

As always, thanks for reading.
