The Los Angeles Rams have made a significant number of draft selections since winning Super Bowl LVI. The greatest hope is to emerge with multiple role players and perhaps one or two starters. in many ways, the Rams should have lowered those standards, as this was a team that had just won an NFL Super Bowl. Well, that's not how it worked out for the team. What do I mean?

The Rams seemed to get it right, even with the team having no picks within the first 100 selections in the 2022 NFL Draft. The team invested in the annual NFL draft with the following number of picks:

  • 2022 | 8 picks | 5 rostered | 3 starters
  • 2023 | 14 picks | 11 rostered | 5 starters
  • 2024 | 10 picks |10 rostered | 5 starters
  • 2025 | 8 picks | TBD

That's pretty solid stuff. But the Rams, even when they were willing to trade away first-round picks for plug-and-play game-changing veterans, were adept at finding solid contributors in the draft. A website graded NFL teams' effectiveness at drafting over the past 10 years. Betway ranked the Rams as the third most effective drafting NFL team over that lengthy period.

Of course, no NFL draft event can be judged by past successes. The prospects, the picks, the needs, and the strategy change annually. The best that a team can hope for is to find and develop available talent to their optimal level of NFL competition. So it is an effort that requires the entire organization and even the community to pull off.

So far, the Los Angeles Rams have mastered the ability to find, grind, and polish diamonds in the rough to their best luster. RB Kyren Williams is an annual offensive juggernaut, putting up plenty of yards and touchdowns. WR Puka Nacua has emerged to become one of the hottest NFL wide receivers. And the Rams' defense is powered by the four horsemen:

  • NT Kobie Turner - The Conductor
  • DT Braden Fiske - The Kingpin
  • OLB Byron Young - Agent 0
  • OLB Jared Verse - V8

Who will the Rams select in the 2025 NFL Draft? Whoever they are, fans already expect them to be very talented, passionate, coachable, and possess a strong work ethic. No pressure, eh?

And yet, the front office continues to send plenty of worthy rookie prospects through the talent pipeline. That is above and beyond the team's knack for adding players to the Rams roster after the draft concludes. This is no longer a team powered by the 'F*** them picks,' mission statement. Since winning Super Bowl LVI, this is a team that has embraced a 'Love them picks,' history. And with the 2025 NFL Draft filling the front windshield, Rams fans are eager to get started.

As always, thanks for reading.
