Tyler Warren's rumored private Rams workout sets stage for blockbuster trade

The stars are aligning for the Rams to make another blockbuster trade offer to move up to select PSU TE Tyler Warren. Is he worth it? The Rams may very likely think so.

Are the Los Angeles Rams hot on the trail of the top tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft? If you have been tracking the past two NFL Drafts, then you know that the Rams have been parched over the efforts of trading up to land the top tight end in the past two drafts. The problem is, those efforts were unsuccessful, and the Rams have landed one tight end in the past two seasons: TE Davis Allen. Still, the team continues to vie for tight end, and the 2025 NFL Draft brings the rumble of a potential tight end deluge to the NFL.

Even with the abundance of top tight end talent available in the upcoming draft, Sportskeeda NFL Insider Tony Pauline is reporting that top tight end prospect Tyler Warren, who hails from Penn State, is getting a lot of attention from NFL teams. His recent article suggests that Warren has been invited to work out privately for:

  • New York Jets | 7th overall pick
  • Indianapolis Colts | 14th overall pick
  • Los Angeles Chargers | 22nd overall pick
  • Los Angeles Rams | 26th overall pick
  • Chicago Bears | 10th overall pick
  • New Orleans Saints | 9th overall pick

Yes, the Rams whose first pick in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft is the 26th overall selection, are among the group. Is Warren that good? If you trust the NFL.com grades, he is even more talented than either Dalton Kincaid or Brock Bowers, who were the Rams targets in trading up efforts in each of the past two drafts.

It's no stretch of the imagination to envision the Rams interest in Tyler Warren as legit. But if the Rams truly try to select Warren, how high must the team trade up to be in a position to select him?

Focusing on when Tyler Warren is likely to come off the board, I ran 10 different episode of Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft, with the goal of determining the range of when TE Tyler Warren might be selected. In the 10 iterations of Round 1, Tyler Warren was selected as early as seventh overall by the New York Jets, and no later than 10th overall by the Chicago Bears.

So, to be in a position to select Tyler Warren in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Rams would need to trade up to the sixth overall pick with the Las Vegas Raiders. Per the 2025 NFL Draft value chart, to trade up to the sixth overall pick to select Tyler Warren, the Rams would need to package their 2025 NFL Draft Round 1 pick (26th overall), a 2026 NFL Draft Round 1 pick, both of their 2025 NFL Draft Round 3 picks (90th and 101st overall). That package should net the Raiders Round 1 pick (sixth overall) and Round 5 pick (143rd overall).

What would that trade look like?

Too much to pay for a tight end? The Rams have been frustrated over the tight end position for the past too seasons. With the chance to add the best of the bunch, TE Tyler Warren, will the team make an extraordinary effort to go all in? This is the scenario that GM Les Snead loves to tackle.

If the Rams coaching staff has its heart set on Tyler Warren, count on Les Snead to deliver him to the team.

If Tyler Warren can deliver Brock Bowers' offensive production to the Rams offense in 2025, then this is a bargain. The question remains: Can the Rams offense unlock optimal production from the tight end position. The team did so in December 2019. This offense simply needs to figure out a way to do so for five months.

As always, thanks for reading.
