What we've learned about the LA Rams and the NFC West Division so far
Week 6 of the NFL season is ending, and even though the LA Rams had a much-needed bye this past week, let's look at what the other team in the division did. The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers played each other last Thursday night, and the 49ers came out victorious 36-24.
The Arizona Cardinals visited Lambeau Field Sunday afternoon to take on Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers jumped out to a 24-0 lead and finished off the Cardinals 34-13. Currently, the division sits as follows:
- San Francisco 49ers - Record 3-3
- Seattle Seahawks - Record 3-3 (lost tiebreaker to 49ers due to head-to-head loss)
- Arizona Cardinals - Record 2-4
- Los Angeles Rams - Record 1-4
The NFC West is wide open
Even though the Rams have not had the start to the season that we wanted, they are not buried by any means. We have seen a lot of inconstancy from all four teams through the first six weeks which has left the door open for the Rams to get back into it.
After starting 3-0, the Seahawks have lost their last three games to drop back to .500. The 49ers are still a heavy favorite to come out of the NFC, but the injury bug has hurt them, leading to an average 3-3 start. The Cardinals have looked decent at times, but they haven't been able to put a winning streak together, which has led to their 2-4 start.
The Rams have had some tough losses so far. Their losses to the Lions, Bears, and Packers have all been one-possession games,one-possession, which has led to Rams' fans shaking their head because they are a better team than what their record says. Losing those close games repetitively is a sign of a young team, but that will need to improve if they want to make a run in their last 12 games.
Last season, the Rams were 3-6 entering their bye and ended up going to the playoffs with a 10-7 record. They will need to do something similar if they want to play meaningful games in December, and it starts in week 7, as they host the Las Vegas Raiders.
