Ah yes, another NFL game day, and the LA Rams finally have some breathing room. After starting the season with an alarming 1-4 start to the 2024 NFL season, the team did an about-face during the Week 6 BYE and has roared back to relevancy with a 9-2 run that has allowed the team to clinch the NFC West Division title and no worse than a four-seed in the upcoming 2025 NFL Playoffs.
But this is the third year of another three-year cycle for the team. In the past, the Rams have parlayed Year 3 of a cycle into a Super Bowl appearance. The Rams lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII. Three years later, the team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Now, the same team is taking aim at Super Bowl LIX. But let's push a pin in that for now. In Week 18, the team is relying upon a deep roster to secure their 11th win of the season.
The Rams are opting to rest more than half of their offensive starters for the final game of the season. While you may or may not agree with the strategy, it's clear that the offense is out of alignment lately. After putting up 44 points in Week 14, the same offense has scored 44 points in total over the past three games. That is alarming.
To offset the offensive struggles, the Rams defense has played lights out. Even as the offense has scored just 44 points over the last three games, the defense has surrendered just 24 points over the same three games. And that red-hot defense will remain intact to face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18.
Seahawks go White on White
While the Rams hope to win outright in Week 18, don't expect the Seattle Seahawks to roll over and play dead. Much like the Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks smell blood in the water from the San Francisco 49ers disappointing 2024 NFL season, and would love nothing better than to end this year on a high note. That high note can only happen by defeating the Rams, regardless of whether they face the starters, the backups, or the cheerleading squad.
To confirm the seriousness of the Seahawks mindset, take note of how the team has swiftly placed two players ruled out for Week 18 on IR to create open roster slots to sign two players from the team's practice squad to the active roster for one final game:
And to commemorate their final game of the 2024 NFL season, the Seahawks have opted to don their White jerseys and White pants:
Rams uniform combination
We have covered the Rams uniform combination throughout the 2024 NFL season because, quite frankly, there are some Rams fans who lobby hard for us to do so. Because it's not difficult to track on a week-to-week basis, we are happy to deliver. So for Week 18, the team will close out the regular season with the following uniform combination:
- Rams Jersey: Royal Blue
- Rams Pants: Royal Blue
- Rams Socks: Royal Blue
And here is how that looks:
Some fans are not thrilled with the blue-on-blue look, and have already begun to voice their dissatisfaction on social media. But since the team will compete in the postseason, there will be at least one more uniform combination coming next week.
As always, thanks for reading.
