Who are the announcers and referees for the Rams vs the 49ers today?
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams (7-6) have appeared on multiple NFL games broadcast on prime-time television this season. While the opportunity to watch (or listen to) the Rams is always a treat, appearing on Thursday Night Football is a bit better than the rest. The voice of Al Michaels in the broadcast booth exudes NFL football, and I am never disappointed when Andrew Whitworth, a.k.a. Big Whit, talks football into a microphone.
And so, here we are again, with another Thursday Night Football game streaming on Amazon Prime. If you haven't seen a game on Amazon Prime, find a local sports bar that is carrying the game, because they have been using some unique features that make the game so much better.
There is an alternate option that is enhanced live with Next Gen Stats. That includes highlighting key players who may blitz, run routes, or be involved in plays. There is the occasional stats update to inform viewers over the probability of plays and their outcomes. It's just great fodder for a football nerd like myself.
Of course, it comes down to football. As long as it's the LA Rams and the San Francisco 49ers, you can check that off. These two teams are not only quite familiar with one another, but since the Rams hired HC Sean McVay in 2017, one of these two teams have appeared in the Super Bowl four out of seven times. That's a very impressive track record.
Week 15 is not the Super Bowl, but you can bet both teams will be giving it their all. The winner sustains hopes of competing in the post-season. The loser will almost certainly need help from other teams to get there.
Announcers for Rams vs 49ers
- Lead Play-by-Play Announcer: Al Michaels
- Color Commentator: Kirk Herbstreit
- Sideline Reporters: Kaylee Hartung
The Rams hosted the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football in Week 8, downing them by a score of 30-20. It was the first time this season that the Rams put their potential on display for the entire NFL to see. Now the Rams have a chance to double down in their second TNF on Prime game this season.
Referees for Rams vs 49ers
Head Referee: Clay Martin
We have seen Clay Martin and crew before, as they officiated the LA Rams at the Seattle Seahawks game on November 3, 2024. The Rams won that game by a score of 26-20. This is Martin's seventh season as an NFL referee. Per his Pro Football Reference statistics, Martin's crew has averaged nearly 14 penalties per game in 2024 (over the league average) and 113.41 penalty yards per game (again, over the average).

When Clay Martin and crew called the Rams at the Seahawks game, flags flew left and right. The crew called 20 penalties, stepping off 178 penalty yards. With news that 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw will besuiting up for this game, you can expect plenty of flags in this game too.
