The Rams are already loading up for 2025. Who did they ink on Reserve/Future contracts, and why?

(7) - CB Shaun Jolly

The LA Rams signed cornerback Shaun Jolly off the Cleveland Browns practice squad in September 2022, and he has remained with the team ever since. Standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 186 pounds, Jolly is a smallish defensive back in the category of veteran DB Darious Williams or Tre Tomlinson. Jolly has appeared in six games for the team over two seasons, exclusively in a special teams role. He has yet to get a defensive snap on the team.

As others who appear on this list, Jolly has performed impressively in the 2024 preseason games for the team. Mildly surprising, he grades more effectively in run defense than pass coverage..

Despite serving on the practice squad for the Rams in both 2023 and 2024, Jolly has been a bit injury prone. He was injured in September 2023 and January 2024. He survived the 2024 NFL season on the practice squad without incident. Will that translate into a contributing role in 2025? I suspect that the team will earmark one or more draft picks to address the Rams cornerback position. But Jolly is returning, and could surprise the team by earning a larger role on this defense in 2025.

(8) - CB Cam Lampkin

Former Washington State cornerback Cam Lampkin did not see playing time on the defense in 2024, but he did contribute in four games on the team's special teams. The rookie defense back has a chance to earn a greater role in 2025.

Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 176 pounds, Lampkin is not the tallest or heaviest defensive back on the roster in 2025. But he is an impressively physical defensive back whose forte in college football was facing off against some of the top receivers in the NCAA.

Lampkin performed well enough in training camp and preseason to earn a spot on the Rams roster. His role was limited to special teams, and he was soon waived and signed back to the practice squad for the remainder of 2024. Lampkin is a coachable and passionate player who loves to play football, loves to defend passes, and is willing to do whatever a coach asks of him.

Coming back for his second NFL season is not assurance that he will earn playing time. Still, he is a young and dedicated player who will do everything he can in the offseason to arrive fully prepared to pick up right where he left off in 2024. If he puts on more muscle mass and emphasizes his physical play, he could be a sleeper to make the team in 2025.
