You will never guess what the Rams accomplished for the 1st time in 4 years

The LA Rams may not be accumulating many wins, but the team did manage to do something for the 1st time in 4 years. The thing is, it slipped past many fans without getting noticed.

After losing four of their first five games, there are many reasons to search for victories of any sort. After all, winning games starts with winning battles in the trenches. And those man-to-man victories are not easy to come by. Well, I have good news for you. The LA Rams have one such undeniable victory. What is it? Well, here goes:

The LA Rams lean heavily into their running attack to set up their pass. Through a sophisticated series of play action passes that can result in either huge gains on the ground or though the air, the offense has played its best when the team has put up a balanced offense. But balancing the offense requires the team to find success at running. That has not always been the case.

In 2020, IOL Austin Blythe would start as the Rams center, and help to lead the charge for rookie RB Cam Akers to put up 171 rushing yards against a stingy New England defense, and then 131 rushing yards against the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs. He would be the last starting center not named Coleman Shelton to help open enough running lanes for a Rams running back to put up 100+ yards.

That includes 2021, 2022, 2023, and the first four games of 2024. It was not until RB Kyren Williams rushed 22 times for 102 yards against the Green Bay Packers that a running back put up over 100 yards rushing in one game behind another NFL center. On this day, it was rookie center Beaux Limmer.

While not overly appreciated by the Rams, former center Coleman Shelton is the starting center for the Chicago Bears. He has already put in 347 offensive snaps, and per Pro Football Focus, has allowed just one sack and been penalized just once. To compare, Beaux Limmer has played 290 offensive snaps, and has committed no penalties nor allowed any quarterback sacks.
