Steven Jackson Holdout – Day 12

facebooktwitterreddit

I would like to know what side of the fence you are on in this standoff / holdout. Steven Jackson has now held out for 12 days and his total fine amount is up to $181,392. That amount alone is probably 4+ years salary for most fans. We all say how can Steven Jackson holdout, when he still has a year left on his St. Louis Rams contract? How can a player making millions holdout? You can also say nobody made him sign the contract in 2004 coming out of Oregon State (Contract details shown below). This is the same Steven Jackson that has called out fans for booing and selling their tickets to the opposing team. The same Steven Jackson that wants better music played at the Edward Jones Dome. Are you saying “let him hold out, who cares”?

OR

Can you put yourself in Steven Jackson’s shoes, maybe you would hold out too? Darren McFadden just got $60,000,000 contract with the Oakland Raiders without a single carry in the NFL!!!! Steven Jackson has total numbers over the past five years to make him one of the top 5 backs in the NFL, and the Rams got that production for under $7 million total dollars. So he once was a bargain and now he wants his cash can you blame him?

"RB Steven Jackson (Oregon State/No. 24 selection overall). Signing bonus: $2,050,000. Base salaries: $660,000 (2004); $825,000 (2005, plus $1,950,000 option bonus); $990,000 (2006); $1,155,000 (2007); $832,500 (2008). Note: If option exercised, base salaries reduce to $337,500 (2005); $502,500 (2006); $667,500 (2007). Total: five years, $7,000,000, with escalators could reach $8,700,000. Salary cap charge: $1,070,000."

What side are you on, we want to know?
